Find Your Creative Thread: A Studio Visit for Exploration & Mentoring
Sometimes you know you have something to say, write, create, or paint, but you don’t yet know what it is or how to begin.
There’s a poem I share with students and clients, The Way It Is by William Stafford. In it, Stafford writes about following a thread through the inevitable stages and changes of life. We may not be able to see where the thread is leading, but we know when we’re holding it because it feels genuine and true.
I think of the thread as the white-hot center of what compels you to create: the yearning, images, and stories that say, Yes! Please! Create!
There are often many threads running through a life. But in art, our work is to notice which threads have energy, which threads keep calling our attention, and which threads might become the heart of the work.
I offer a one-on-one space on Zoom to slow down, talk, listen, and sort through what is emerging in your memoir, painting, poetry, or creative project. Together, we’ll explore the ideas, images, stories, and questions that can clarify and fortify your creative work.
Bring a page of writing, paintings, an idea, or simply the hunch that something wants to be born or expressed.
