
Jennifer Schelter is a writer, actress, painter and teacher. Jennifer shared in a Tony Award for Best Regional Theater at the Denver Center Theater Company in 1998 while starring in the world premiere of Taking Leave by Nagle Jackson. She has written and produced four one-woman shows: People We Meet, Dream, Lingerie, and Love Lessons from Abu Ghraib. Love Lessons was produced by Amnesty International at Capital Hill Arts Workshop and the InterAct Theater Company in Philadelphia.
She has exhibited her paintings at The Pennsylvania Academy of The Fine Arts Student Annual Exhibition, The —- Gallery, Our Bodies, Our Selves Exhibition at Gwynedd Academy, and The Woodmere Art Museum.
Named “Best of Philly” three times for yoga and mindfulness instructor, in 2003, Schelter founded the first civic yoga event called Yoga Unites in Philadelphia. In 2005, she founded the Radiant Retreat, an annual pilgrimage to Mexico for transformative yoga, meditation and creative writing.
She has facilitated, and lectured writing, yoga and mindful leadership programs in collaboration with “Natural Reboot,” a reality TV show, the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Leadership and Management Programs, Morris Arboretum, Kripalu Center, Woodloch Lodge, and Xinalani Resort. Most recently she lectured at and led memoir and storytelling workshops for Maine Media Workshop and College.
Her study of meditation, memoir writing, storytelling, painting, and yoga offer a rich, cross-pollinated approach to somatic self-awareness, creativity, and self-discovery.
Jennifer received her B.A. in Visual Arts from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and an MFA from the University of San Diego/Old Globe Theatre. She grew up in Pennsylvania, and now lives in a converted horse stable in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She adores her two cats, reading, writing, painting, and tending in her tiny garden and cherished community.
